A living room with a burgundy wingback chair, cream sofas and brass details

Neo Deco at home: six details, no grand renovation.

A little bronze, an unexpected curve, the softness of velvet. Neo Deco brings glamour back into the conversation, but its most interesting details might already be living in your home.

It's 7:36 on a Friday evening.

The apartment is quiet except for the sound of a spoon against a ceramic cup. Outside, headlights travel across the windows. Inside, a small lamp casts a golden reflection onto the wall.

On the side table sits an old bronze-colored object. Beside it, a curved glass vase holds two flowers. There's a velvet cushion on the sofa, slightly flattened from being used.

Nothing here is particularly extravagant. And yet, the room has a certain glow.

Perhaps that's the most interesting thing about Neo Deco, the contemporary revival of Art Deco-inspired forms and materials: it reminds us that a little theatricality can be wonderful in an otherwise ordinary home.

Not everything needs to be practical, minimal, or invisible. Sometimes a room deserves a beautiful detail that serves no purpose beyond making us smile.

Welcome to our little museum. Admission is free. Touching is encouraged.

A new look at an old kind of glamour

Art Deco has long been associated with geometric patterns, decorative metals, expressive shapes, and rich materials. Neo Deco borrows from that visual language while allowing more contemporary, relaxed interiors to participate.

A curved mirror beside a simple wooden cabinet. A velvet cushion on a linen sofa. A little metal object against a quiet cream wall.

The idea isn't to recreate an entire historical interior. It's to introduce contrast, rhythm, and a bit of personality.

These figures measure search interest, not purchases or the number of homes adopting the style. The more interesting question is: what part of this style actually speaks to us?

Six exhibits in our pocket museum

01

Bronze: the warmth of a little shine

A small bronze object rests on a shelf, its surface softened with time. Warm metals catch the light without dominating the room. Look again: is there already a metal frame, tray or lamp base at home? Give it space beside matte wood or linen.

02

Curves: the shape that changes the conversation

A rounded chair beside a rectangular table. Neo Deco loves the meeting between geometry and curves, but you don't need a curved sofa. Look again: a round ceramic bowl on a square console creates a similar conversation.

03

Velvet: a fabric that follows the light

Velvet changes with the direction of its pile and the light falling across it: deep at night, softer by a window in the morning. Look again: before adding another cushion, place an existing textured textile against something smooth.

04

Marble: the beauty of an imperfect line

Stone contains its own composition: veins and shifts in color that refuse to repeat. A marble countertop isn't required. Look again: a stone coaster, an inherited tray or a small vessel may already be the detail.

05

Geometry: a little rhythm for the eye

Lines, arches, fans and stepped shapes give Deco its graphic energy, but geometry can be quiet: a striped cushion beside a round mirror. Look again: find two different shapes in your room and move them closer together.

06

Mirrors: a second way to see the room

An arch catches the edge of a window and the wall gains another fragment of the room. Look again: notice what your mirror reflects; moving it slightly may matter more than changing its frame. Secure heavy mirrors properly.

Which Neo Deco detail belongs in your home?

Four questions, three personalities. Choose instinctively.

No profile is more stylish than another.

Your ten-minute Neo Deco edit

Choose a small shelf or table. Not the entire living room.

  1. 1
    Minutes 1–2: clear.

    Empty the surface completely.

  2. 2
    Minutes 3–4: choose.

Find one object with an interesting shape, surface, or reflection.

  3. 3
    Minutes 5–6: contrast.

Pair it with something different: smooth against textured, curved beside straight, matte beside glossy.

  4. 4
    Minutes 7–8: subtract.

    Remove anything competing for attention.

  5. 5
    Minutes 9–10: step back.

Does the arrangement still feel like your home? If it does, stop.

You don't need a marble fireplace or a newly upholstered sofa to make a small composition interesting.

Glamour doesn't have to fill a room. Sometimes it only needs one place to land.

The most beautiful exhibit is ordinary life

It's getting late. The cup has been moved into the kitchen. The velvet cushion is on the floor because someone preferred sitting there. The little bronze object catches the last light of the evening.

Our museum is closing. Except, of course, it isn't a museum.

It's a home, and tomorrow the objects will be moved, touched, used, and occasionally ignored. That is exactly as it should be.

If you enjoy interiors where older pieces live naturally beside newer ones, explore our story about the Paris apartment, where character matters far more than perfect matching.

Neo Deco isn't most interesting when it makes a room look expensive. It's interesting when it reminds us that our homes can be expressive, playful, and a little unexpected.

Even on an ordinary Friday night.

Sources & notes

Bienvenidos a nuestro pequeño museo.

Dejala junto a madera mate o lino.

02

Cuatro preguntas, tres perfiles.

  3. 3
    Minutos 5–6: contrastá.

Acompañalo con algo distinto: liso junto a rugoso, curvo junto a recto, mate junto a brillante.

  4. 4
